Roland Meinecke

Senior Management, Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU

Roland Meinecke is currently Minister Plenipotentiary and since 2009 has been the Head of Unit for Digital, Competitiveness and Trade in the Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU. He has worked as a civil servant since 1993 and in that time he has worked in Austria’s permanent representations to the EU, WTO and in the Federal Ministary for Econonic Affairs. From 2006 to 2009 he worked in the Austrian permanent representation to the EU in the trade department. Before this (2002-2005) he worked in services, Non-Agricultural Market Access negotiations, competition, investment and trade facilitation in the WTO in Geneva as a permanent repesentative of Austria. Roland Meincke joined the Austrian Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU in 1995 where he worked in the energy, industry and SME-policy sector until 2000. In 1993 he was a legal advisor to Austria’s Federal Minsitery for Economic Affairs. During Austria’s Presidency of the European Council in 2006 Roland Meinecke was Chair of the Trade Policy Committee Services and in their earlier 1998 Presidency he was Chair of the Council of the Council Working Group Energy. He obtained a degree in law from the Karl-Franzens University of Graz in 1992.
